Trace the download back to its author
Start from the author’s original project or release page. Record the displayed project name, release version, exact file name, and who published it. ConsoleTuner lists Gtuner Pro for Titan One and Gtuner IV for Titan Two. If the release does not name its intended device and editor, check the original documentation before trying to load it.
Use ConsoleTuner’s own download page for Gtuner IV. A copy of the editor bundled with an unrelated archive has a different origin and should be checked separately.
Identify what you can inspect without opening an executable
A readable script or configuration can be examined as text to see its stated target and dependencies. A desktop installer has a separate author and execution environment. Check the published list of expected files before opening them. A project that describes an editor file but supplies only an unexpected installer needs clarification from its publisher.
If the release offers a SHA-256 checksum, compute the hash of the downloaded file and compare all characters against the author’s published value. On Windows, Microsoft documents the Get-FileHash PowerShell command for this check. A matching value verifies the file against that reference. It does not establish that the project is safe or permitted in a game.

Work through a verification record
In this illustrative example, the release page says version 1.2 is a Titan Two source archive. The downloaded name matches the page, but its hash differs from the published SHA-256. Keep the file closed and check whether the download was incomplete or came from a different release. If a fresh copy from the original source still differs, ask the publisher to clarify.
Record separately whether the author, device, editor, and hash were confirmed. Where the author published no checksum, mark the integrity comparison as unavailable. If the download is meant to change inputs during play, check the current policy for the specific game and mode separately from those provenance checks.
