Titan Two and computer vision

Choosing a Titan Two computer vision capture source

Before building a computer vision test, decide what image should reach the computer. Gtuner IV’s Computer Vision panel can work with several source types, and each type has different limits when you use it with a game.

Choose a capture source by where the picture originates

ConsoleTuner’s release notes list device, stream, display, and window among Gtuner IV’s Computer Vision source choices. A window source makes sense when the game already runs on the host and you only need that application. Check whether the preview includes its border, menus, or just the content area. A resize can change the part of the image that corresponds to a fixed coordinate.

A display source is useful when you want a known full screen as your reference. It may include notifications and other apps, so use a clean display before capturing or sharing footage. A device source is the natural test when a capture interface delivers a separate console’s picture to the PC. Check that interface in the source list and confirm its preview independently of controller input.

Compare candidate sources with a visible reference

Prepare a short menu sequence with an identifiable marker near one edge. Preview the same sequence first as a window and then as a display on the same host. In each pass, record the visible frame dimensions, whether the marker is cropped, and whether another window obscures it. If the console feed is separate, apply the same checks to its capture device in a third pass.

Illustrative result. The display preview contains the entire desktop and leaves the menu marker inside a small game window, while the window preview fills most of the frame with the menu. The window source is a better fit for a test that relies on the marker’s position, provided resizing or switching modes does not break it. That is a framing decision and says nothing about capture speed.

Keep one repeatable input for later tests

Write down the source type and name, the dimensions actually shown in the preview, the game display mode, and the visible region. If two candidates both preserve the picture you need, choose the one with the simpler, more repeatable setup. Reopen the source and verify it shows the same marker before collecting reference clips or adjusting a script.
