Start with the original wired Xbox 360 controller
ConsoleTuner’s connection guide lists Xbox 360 among the systems that need an original console controller on INPUT-B for authentication. Start with a wired Xbox 360 controller you have already tested directly on the console. Plug the controller you want to use into INPUT-A once that baseline works.
Do not infer that a powered wireless controller is providing a wired input path. The reference test is whether the controller is detected and sends inputs over that USB connection.
Use the Xbox 360 output protocol
Verify the output setting in Gtuner IV before attaching the rear OUTPUT port to Xbox 360. Choose the Xbox 360 USB protocol if automatic selection does not establish a connection. Leave the memory slot inactive so a script or Input Translator cannot complicate the first input test.
Try the dashboard and then an offline game. If the controller registers in Gtuner IV but the console ignores it, check the authentication controller, the output protocol, and the cable to the console separately.
Change only one link at a time
Keep the original wired controller and console cable fixed while checking your preferred input device. If the setup stops working after swapping the controller or enabling a slot, return to the last working setup and reintroduce that one change. This isolates console authentication, input mapping, and cable faults without resetting a configuration that already works.
